I would recommend watching this YouTube or reading the paper. It is dry but quite informative. I commented on the YouTube:
This was an excellent talk. I look forward to reading the books. Humility and compassion are required, but we should indeed “build it now.” Socialism needs to be deeply democratic, with a world social compact to ensure everyone’s basic needs are met. The gross distortions often called “real” socialism are state capitalism. The vanguard hierarchy/dictatorship and managers often become rich, and the people are alienated. We need global “garden variety” democratic socialism with workers’ gardens.
A friend recently recommended the paper and the professor’s latest book. Based on the quality of this presentation, I intend to read his books.
In solidarity,
Brother Francisco
